August 26, 2008: "Barenaked Ladies Lead Vocalist Ed Robertson, 3 Others Survive Plane Crash In Ontario" An airplane piloted by the lead vocalist of pop band Barenaked Ladies and carrying three passengers crashed Sunday in a wooded area near Bancroft, Ontario but they all survived unhurt. Ed Robertson, a licensed pilot, his wife Natalie, and friends Julie and Jeff Jones got out through a window of the Cessna 206, which fell on trees, and they hiked through the forest to reach the road, the singer's friend Gord Peel told The Belleville Intelligencer newspaper Monday. Peel, who went to the accident site upon learning of the crash, said Robertson, 37, safely set the plane into maple trees when it stalled after taking off from Baptiste Lake. Robertson uses the plane for his "Ed's Up" TV show on the Outdoor Life Network. The show documents the rocker's meeting with different workers in Canada. |
