Born: January 17, 1984 Dumfries, Scotland. Calvin Harris is a Scottish electronic musician from Dumfries. His debut single "Acceptable in the 80s" reached #10 on the UK Singles Chart in 2007, receiving coverage on the radio and music channels such as MTV. His next single 'The Girls' will be released at the end of May. Harris states that he has no DJ experience, so his live performances feature him singing with a band (rather than behind a mixer). Uses an Amiga computer and OctaMED tracker software to make some of his music. He credits a 5/5 demo review from Planet Sound for giving him the confidence to keep making music. According to a BBC report and a blog on his MySpace profile, Harris is working with Kylie Minogue on her new album, after coming to the attention of a record producer who passed on his details to the star. He has also worked with Roisin Murphy on her new album due for release in october 2007. Harris has recently supported British dance band Faithless on their UK tour, including a performance at this years Global Gathering Dance Music Festival. He will support Groove Armada on their UK tour in May. |
