Dancer and choreographer Derek Hough picture(s)/pic(s), wallpaper and photo gallery. Born: May 15, 1985 Salt Lake City, Utah. Derek Hough biography (bio): Derek Hough is an American dancer and choreographer. A former world champion in Latin-American Dance, he is currently appearing on Season 5 of the ABC television series, Dancing with the Stars. Derek was born in 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1998, along with his sister, he moved to London to further their dance training. He attended and subsequently taught at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. On this foundation, he built a career, which has included professional competition, television work, and roles in the West End theatre. Competitive dance: Hough has danced at professional level with Polish dancer Aneta Piotrowska, who has competed on Dancing with the Stars Poland. Hough is a former World under-21 Latin American Dance Champion. He has won the LA Outstanding Dancer of the Year and the New York Dance Alliance Outstanding Dance awards. Notable stage appearances: Derek played the role of Ren McCormack in both the UK Tour and the West-End run of Footloose the Musical. His moves in routines including Can't Stand Still and the show's finale particularly impressed audiences at Aldwych's Novello Theatre, where Footloose ran from April until November 2006. Before this, Hough’s theatre work included playing the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Millfield Theatre, and dancing in the company in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium. Notable television, film and video appearances: Derek is one of Bruno Tonioli’s panelists on BBC One’s DanceX, the first episode of which aired on 14 July 2007. He has also hosted Real Lives, appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and was the lead dancer in George Michael’s Round Here video. He is on season 5 of Dancing with the Stars and is paired with Jennie Garth. Famous sibling: Derek Hough’s younger sister, Julianne Hough, was winner of Season 4 of the U.S. Dancing with the Stars. He is currently competing against her on Season 5 of the show. Bands: Derek is in a rock band called Almost Amy with his good friend Mark Ballas, Jr., who is a fifth season Dancing with the Stars professional ballroom dancer. On 11 October 2007, Derek and his sister, Julianne, mentioned on Entertainment Tonight that they, along with Ballas, had their own pop music trio called "2B1G(2 Boys 1 Girl)".
