September 5, 2008: "Eva Mendes Admits She's "Big On Therapy""
Eva Mendes says she is "big on therapy." The "Hitch" actress - who checked into a rehabilitation clinic earlier this year to be treated for "personal issues" - doesn't think there is anything wrong with people seeking help from a professional. Eva said: "I'm big on therapy. I've always said I love talking about therapy, because there's nothing wrong with it. Why wait until something goes terrible in your life to start fixing things?" While the 34-year-old actress has so far refused to comment on the specifics of her rehab visit, she hinted it had something to do with her inability to cope with her success. She told E! Online reporter Marc Malkin: "Up until recently, I was really uncomfortable with having success and enjoying it. I just couldn't deal with that. How can I have so much? It's not fair. How can the world have so little? I allowed it to mess with me in the sense that I just didn't know how to handle it." *** August 12, 2008: "Eva Mendes Channels Her Inner Woman On Cover Of Marie Claire" Eva Mendes channels femininity as she talks about her latest film, her woman role model, and just about everything as she graces the September issue of Marie Claire magazine. The latest endorser of Calvin Klein scent talks about her first true blue chick flick, "The Women," where she works with the all-girl cast consisting of Annette Bening, Meg Ryan, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cloris Leachman, Candice Bergen and Bette Midler. Mendes, 33, who usually works with guys in films, suddenly found herself dressing up in rehearsals for the film surrounded by women. She says it inspires her to make herself "cute" because her co-stars are going to be cute. "I'm sure I sound like a ditz saying this, but it's a girl thing. A timeless, ageless, ethnicity-less girl thing." The actress also reveals her true role model in the person of Hollywood timeless beauty Annette Bening, saying, "Annette's got taste and class. She reminds me of one of those women back in the '40s and '50s. She's a broad, and I want to be a broad. ...to have femininity and a voice, to play the Hollywood game without getting pushed around." Marie Claire September issue is available on newsstands on August 12. *** July 8, 2008: "Eva Mendes Speaks Out About Rehab" Eva Mendes is "proud" of celebrities who seek help for their addictions to drugs or alcohol. The 34-year-old actress insists people should be praised for their willingness to overcome their problems. She said: "I'm proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better." Eva also refused to confirm the reasons behind her spell in the clinic - which was rumoured to be substance abuse, claims vehemently denied by the 'Ghost Rider' star. She said: "There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge. But I don't care what people think. I just don't care - I think now we just know way too much about our celebrities. It's not that interesting when you know that much about people. "I have no ego about me. It's just better for you not to know, because it really does make me a better actor at the end of the day. You're not going into the movie with all these specifics about me." During the piece for Interview magazine, Eva expressed her disgust at the interviewer David Colman's joke at the expense of people who rely on support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous. When he said, "They're going to have to change the name of it to 'Alcoholics Unanimous'!" Eva paused and finally replied, "I'm not making jokes, because people die from this stuff. I'm not angry. I've lost friends, too - even recently. So I can be a little sensitive on the subject." *** July 8, 2008: "Eva Mendes Refuses To Confirm Or Deny Rehab Trip" It has been months after she reportedly checked into a rehab but actress Eva Mendes still won't confirm or deny it. In a new interview with Interview magazine, the "Hitch" star addresses her rehab trip in January but refuses to verify or disprove the reports. She says, "There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge. But I don't care what people think. I just don't care. So I will neither confirm nor deny it." However, the 34-year-old actress actually feels better when there are more lies on the stories about her than truth. She explains, "But for all the stuff that came out a few months ago about substance abuse, there were so many wrong stories. I was so happy about that, because it's when they get the real scoop that would make me really nervous... You want it to be a lie, because when it's true, that's when I'd be like, 'Oh, my God!' It's time to rethink who's in your circle, because stuff got out." It was reported in January that the actress entered the rehab in Utah to battle a substance abuse problem for several weeks. *** April 3, 2008: "Eva Mendes Enjoying Post Rehab Break" Actress Eva Mendes has blamed her hectic work schedule for her recent stint in rehab, insisting she is now taking time off to "take care of herself." The star entered the Cirque Lodge clinic in Utah in February to seek "outside professional support" for "some personal issues." The 34-year-old is convinced her decision to work on a string of high-profile movies without taking time out in between each film was the reason behind her health problems. She tells People.com, "(I'm) taking a break and having a good time. I'm actually taking advantage of my time off. "You know, I had a film that was pushed, so I'm home spending time with my family, going to the gym and actually enjoying taking care of myself... "This year has been great for me because I've learned how to relax. The last three years have been amazing but kind of crazy. So I don't know, I feel grounded. I feel really good." *** March 17, 2008: "Eva Mendes For Calvin Klein Underwear" Eva Mendes will not only be the face of the new Calvin Klein fragrance, but will also front a global advertising campaign for their lingerie. The actress has confirmed earlier reports that she will be featured in the new Seductive Comfort underwear line for designer Calvin Klein. “The company has such an incredible creative legacy,” Eva says. “I’m honored to be associated with such an iconic, world-class brand like Calvin Klein Underw Eva’s Seductive Comfort ad campaign will premiere in July. *** Actress Eva Mendes pictures (pic) and photo gallery.
