July 22, 2008: " Former Guns n’ Roses drummer arrested" Former Guns n’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was arrested for drugs and an outstanding warrant. He left the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) Hollywood station with his bail bondsman after being released from police custody at 5:28 p.m. PST on Friday (July 18). “In conjunction with Dr. Drew Pinsky, who is the owner of the Las Encinas rehab center [in Pasadena, California], we’re about to — hopefully with Steven Adler’s co-operation — escort him to Las Encinas to check him in to begin a hopefully positive rehab stay,” the bondsman told the TMZ cameraman before bailing Adler out. “If he resists, I’ve been authorized to re-arrest him and take him forthwith back to L.A. County jail downtown and re-book him into the County jail system, ’cause I can’t do it here at the police department. So my fingers are crossed that he’s gonna be a willing and co-operative defendant.” *** June 23, 2008: "Guns N' Roses New Album Leaked!" Nine tracks from Guns N Roses’ long awaited new album ‘Chinese Democracy’ has made its way onto the internet on Wednesday on a website which quickly received a cease and desist order from the band. With an album 14 years in the making, who would want it leaked? The album was originally supposed to be released in March 2007. Work on the album began back in 1994 but Axl Rose has since gotten rid of his original band members. Of the 9 songs leaked, 6 were previously leaked in unfinished format. Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band has sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide, including 39 million in the United States. Their 1987 major label debut, Appetite for Destruction, sold over 26 million copies worldwide and reached #1 in the United States. The band's musical style, onstage presence and bad boy rock image helped usher in a new era of the dominant hard rock and heavy metal scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. While glam metal was the leading genre in record sales, video charts and radio airplay, Guns N' Roses offered a grittier, more traditional take on rock music, and won many fans who admired their apparent authenticity. The band enjoyed worldwide success from 1988 to 1993, but clashing personalities of different band members led to the end of the core lineup. Today, frontman Axl Rose is the only original member left in the current Guns N' Roses line-up, having served as lead singer for twenty-two years since 1985. Music style: The music of Guns N' Roses is a fusion of punk rock, heavy metal and classic rock and roll, presented in a layered fashion. More recently, Guns N' Roses have showed industrial influences, similar in style to bands such as Nine Inch Nails (former Nine Inch Nails Live guitarist Robin Finck plays with the band). In the 1990s, the band integrated keyed instruments (played by either Rose or Reed, and accompanied on tour by Teddy Andreadis) into the band, and for roughly half of the Use Your Illusion tour, added a horn section to the stage. While Reed has remained on some of the Chinese Democracy demos, tours since 2002 have not included wind instruments, though the band has employed synthesized horns on some of their new songs. A heavy influence on both the image and sound of the band was Finnish band Hanoi Rocks (singer Michael Monroe and Rose have collaborated on various occasions). Rose has stated that the band was massively inspired by bands like Queen, The Rolling Stones, Rose Tattoo and AC/DC, and also that the sound of Appetite for Destruction was influenced by Aerosmith and AC/DC. The stage moves and vocal stylings of Rose have been attributed to Shark Island lead singer Richard Black.
