James Hugh Calum Laurie; Actor, Writer and Musician Hugh Lauri was born on the 11th of June, 1959 in Oxford, England. Hugh is currently known for his leading role on the Drama TV series Dr. House as the protagonist Dr. Gregory House. Somewhat, the character "House" relates to Hugh's real life and personality. Hugh's father was a medical doctor, while his mother, Patricia, died from a motor neuron disease that left her in pain for two continous years before her death. Like his attitude to religion so-far in the "House" series, Hugh admitted that he is an atheist. James Hugh Laurie has graduated from Cambridge with a Honors degree in archaeology and anthropology. During his participation in the Cambridge Footlights he met Emma Thompson with whom he shared a love-story that ended in friendship and many successful acting duets. Laurie plays the piano, guitar, drums, harmonica and saxophone. He is a vocalist and keyboard player for the Los Angeles charity rock group Band From TV.
