August 19, 2008: "Julianne Moore Doesn't Care If Her Kids Would Want To See Her Films" Julianne Moore doesn't think her children will ever watch her films. Julianne revealed her brood have never seen her movies and she doesn't expect them to want to see them when they grow up. The 47-year-old actress, who has starred in several nude scenes, said: "I want them to be interested in their own lives and their own accomplishments. I don't want them to be interested in mine. Mine are of no consequence to them. I am their mother. That's all I want to be to them - not some artist who discusses her work with them. I don't care if they appreciate my artistry. I just want them to appreciate my unconditional love." Julianne also says that quitting smoking 15 years ago was one of the major turning points in her life as it enabled her to focus on her career. She added to Parade.com: "The time when I began to see the most clearly was after I turned 30. I was 31 or 32, and I quit smoking. I was so emotional. I mean, everybody is emotional when they quit smoking. But I had been so unhappy, and I realized that I had just been - I don't know - literally stuffing it back with those cigarettes in my mouth. I felt like I woke up suddenly." The "I'm Not There" actress has revealed her filmmaker husband Bart Freundlich thinks she is "strange" because she is always drawn to roles which are scary or where something horrible happens to the character. She said: "He thinks I'm weird. There was a script I read recently where I was like, 'Oooh, this horrible thing happens and it's really good and then they're all dead!'" "He's like, 'What is the matter with you?' I'm like, 'I don't know but I like it.' I've always liked things that are meant to terrify." The actress claims she has always been drawn to dark films, and even loved feeling scared when she was a child. She said: "When I was a kid, I used to watch this vampire soap opera, 'Dark Shadows.' I loved that show... and I was little! I can remember my sister going into the other room to fold laundry with my mother because she was so frightened. I guess it has translated into the material I want to do as an adult." Julianne also revealed she has no problem appearing naked in movies, but does find filming sex scenes hard. She added to Wonderland magazine: "People ask all the time if sex scenes and nudity are hard. What's hard? Not the lines or the physicality, but the emotion." *** August 11, 2008: "Julianne Moore Refused Entry Onto Hampton Jitney Bus" Julianne Moore was left red-faced after she was refused entry onto a bus. The "Savage Grace" star had reserved a seat on the Hampton Jitney but the driver failed to recognize the Oscar-nominated actress and insisted the bus was full last Thursday. A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Julianne was in a hat and big sunglasses. She kept quietly asking why she couldn't get on, but was very polite about it." "But everyone started staring once she said she had reserved a seat and told the ticket-taker her name. The 47-year-old actress has hit out at the widespread use of cosmetic treatment in Hollywood, insisting actresses should accept who they are and age naturally. She said: "I don't know why women do Botox. It doesn't make them look younger, it just makes them look like they had work done. You are not going to look the same as you did at 25. What are you going to do about it?" However, Julianne admits she does understand there is a lot of pressure within the movie industry for women to remain looking fresh-faced. She added: "It's hard for actresses. Our faces get to be blown up 50ft wide, and you see stuff that otherwise you wouldn't. People freak out."
