Also known as: Parva (old name). August 28, 2008: "Kaiser Chiefs' Nick Baines Reveals Oasis' Liam Gallagher Hates Them Because They Ruined His Biscuit" Kaiser Chiefs say Liam Gallagher hates them because they ruined his biscuit. The band's keyboardist Nick Baines has revealed the feud with Liam's group Oasis began after they did an impression of him on a British TV show. The "Wonderwall" singer was so distracted while berating the band for their caricature of him that he accidentally overdunked his biscuit in his tea. Nick told BBC Radio 1: "It was the first time we'd ever been on 'Top of The Pops' and Oasis were also on and we were a bit nervous of Liam because he'd been saying stuff about us." "But we'd been presenting on 'Popworld,' where I'd dressed up as Liam Gallagher and done an impression. So Liam and me are backstage and he says, 'Right, so the reason I said that stuff about you was because I saw that program of you doing an impression of me.'" "And as he was saying this he was dunking his biscuit in his tea - and it was then he started swearing - but he left it in too long and it ruined the biscuit. So it was my fault and I ruined his biscuit, then he started being horrible about our band." Kaiser Chiefs also came under fire from Liam's brother Noel -the guitarist in Oasis - who compared the group to 60s band The Monkees. *** The band was originally named Runston Parva and later Parva. After reinventing themselves as Kaiser Chiefs in 2003, they made a strong impact on the British music scene, culminating in winning three BRIT Awards for 'Best Group', 'Best British Rock Act' and 'Best Live Act' in 2006. Their self recorded debut single, Oh My God was released in May 2004 and reached number 66 in the UK Singles Chart. Its follow-up, I Predict a Riot, gained a notable 22 in the chart in Nov 2004, despite being a virtually unknown band. The majority of people are unaware that these songs were released prior to the successful re-issue of Oh My God in 2005. The band also re-issued I Predict a Riot after the increased exposure Oh My God and Everyday I Love You Less and Less brought them. Their most successful single to date is Ruby which peaked at #1 on February 25, 2007. Their debut album Employment, produced by famous Britpop producerStephen Street was released in 2005. A second album, entitled Yours Truly, Angry Mob and also produced by Street, was released on February 26, 2007. The band most recently played the Coachella Festival and made an appearance on the Tonight Show in support of their new album. The band members are known to be hardcore Leeds United fans and have gone out of the way to help their beloved football club on many occasions. They named the band after the South African club Kaizer Chiefs, because Lucas Radebe, a former Kaizer Chiefs player, captained Leeds. In the process, the spelling was changed. The group are currently official sponsors of Leeds player Tore Andre Flo. Members: -Ricky Wilson. -Andrew White. -Simon Rix. -Nick Baines. -Nick Hodgson. |
