August 21, 2008: "Ex-Atomic Kitten Member Kerry Katona Declared Bankrupt" Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has been declared bankrupt at the High Court on Thursday after failing to pay the final $154,000 of a $783,000 tax bill. The 27-year-old singer was given two weeks to complete the payment by a bankruptcy registrar in London. Mr. Registrar Nicholls had agreed to the bankruptcy order after giving her legal camp one more hour to come up with the payment on Thursday. The bankruptcy petition was issued against Katona in January. HM Revenue and Customs insisted on pushing with the petition despite her efforts to reduce the bill. Her rep, Luke Harris, claimed the funds were available but the checks were not cleared in time. But when the court called back just before 1 p.m., Harris said he was "not in a position to assist further." Katona rose to fame as a member of the girl band Atomic Kitten in the late 1990s and left in 2001 when she became pregnant. She then married boyfriend Brian McFadden, of the Westlife boy band fame, becoming Kerry McFadden in 2002. They had two daughters together. In 2004, she won the third season of the British reality show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" After separating with McFadden in September, she reverted to her maiden name. She is currently married to second husband Mark Croft and has two more children. *** July 18, 2008: "Kerry Katona Launches Perfume" Kerry Katona has launched a new perfume named Outrageous. The fruity floral musk was said to be the answer to the former Atomic Kitten’s request for a “phwoar” fragrance. The French-made scent, whose bottle has a spiky black rubber top, aims to reflect the mother-of-four’s personality and the “outrageous” lies about what she has not done. At the launch in Soho Kerry said she wanted to call the fragrance Trouble but the name was not available. *** April 27, 2008: "Brian McFadden Wants The Kids Back" Brian McFadden has begun a custody fight with Kerry Katona to get his daughters away from her. Brian is using her MTV Show "Crazy In Love" as evidence to prove she's an unfit mother. A source close to Brian said: "Those poor girls need stability because they've lived a roller coaster ride with Kerry for too long. You only have to look at her show and see the mess she's in. Brian can give them the upbringing they deserve." *** April 12, 2008: "Kerry Katona Welcomes Baby Son Max" Kerry Katona has given birth to her fourth child, and first son, Max. Max was born at Macclesfield General Hospital in Cheshire two days after Kerry went into labour. He is said to healthy and weighed in at 5lb 4oz. Kerry’s publicist Max Clifford said, “Kerry is fine. She had a natural labour after being induced at lunchtime and Max arrived at 5.42pm. Max is great, he’s a little small, but Kerry’s baby Heidi was only 4lb 9oz when she was born premature. “Mum and baby are doing really well. It was a natural birth and the family are really happy. I am very proud Max was named after me. Everyone knows how I feel about Kerry. I think the world of her. She’s almost like another daughter to me. I am absolutely delighted that everything was fine.” Kerry said, “We can’t wait to get him home. It’s a beautiful boy to go with our three girls.” Kerry and her hubby Mark Croft are also parents to Heidi, 1. Kerry also has two daughters from her marriage to ex hubby and ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden, Molly, 6, and Lilly-Sue, 5. *** April 9, 2008: "Kerry Katona Is In Hospital After Going Into Labour 5 Weeks Early" Kerry Katona has reportedly gone into labour 5 weeks due to the stress of a very traumatic week. Kerry has been stressed by newspaper reports about her mother-in-law saying that her husband Mark Croft is only with Kerry for her money. Kerry has also read more claims that Mark has cheated on her again. Kerry was reportedly rushed to hospital yesterday, and is expected to give birth tomorrow. Her due date was 19th May. Kerry’s friend said, “She’s so pleased it’s coming to an end. She was the size of a house. Her legs and ankles were so swollen she could barely walk.” As for Mark’s alleged infidelity Kerry reportedly told a friend, “I’ve told Mark it’s his last chance. I need to know I can trust him.” Mark Croft has denied the rumours that he has been unfaithful to Kerry. Kerry and mark’s reality show ‘Kerry Katona ~ Crazy In Love’ has added to the stress in Kerry’s life, and she has now reportedly told MTV she is quitting the show. Kerry is expected to film just three more episodes which will leave the series five episodes short of the sixteen originally agreed in a deal though to be worth £160,000. The final show will be broadcast on 27th April. Kerry is expected to appear in a finale in which she will explain her reasons for ending the programme early. A show insider said, “Kerry has been stressed and we’ve had to stop filming quite a few times. Then she and Mark told us they won’t do any more.” Kerry’s agent Max Clifford said ‘Crazy In Love’ will be back next year, saying, “She hasn’t quit. The show is coming to an end earlier. We’re already in talks for the next series. It has been MTV’s most successful show in 5 years.” *** March 27, 2008: "Kerry Katona Does Not Have Pre-Eclampsia" Kerry Katona is not suffering from pre-eclampsia according to the latest news. It was reported yesterday that she may have pre-eclapmsia, but thankfully Kerry is apparently just suffering from water retention and lack of iron. Her spokesman said, “We’re mightily relieved, mother and baby are absolutely fine.” *** March 26, 2008: "Kerry Katona Hospitalised Over Baby Scare" Kerry Katona is in hospital amid fears that she has pre-eclampsia. Kerry was rushed to hospital in Macclesfield, Cheshire, on Monday morning on her midwifes orders. Kerry’s hubby Mark Croft reportedly took Kerry to hospital, and he has been by her side ever since. The effects of Kerry’s bipolar have been heightened lately as she has reportedly been extremely depressed over newspaper reports that she is still taking drugs despite being pregnant. Kerry insists these reports are completely untrue. Poor Kerry, she has had a rough time lately, and she only left rehab a few days ago. Kerry’s PR agent Max Clifford said, “It is a very worrying time but she is in the safest place for her and her baby. “If it turns out to be pre-eclampsia then it can be a very serious condition, she’ll need urgent medical attention. “Kerry is there today as a “precautionary measure. She’s been in a lot of pain, particularly in the last few days. “The symptoms she’s showing are possibly that of pre-eclampsia.” Max said Kerry had been suffering with swollen feet and legs, and she experienced pains in her feet. He said, “It could be water retention. She’s still in hospital at the moment. She has been in increasing pain. She can hardly walk. She’s had a pretty rough time. It’s got worse and worse. Kerry Katona biography (bio): Kerry Jayne Elizabeth Katona is an English television presenter, magazine columnist and former pop singer with girl band Atomic Kitten. Kerry Katona was brought up by her mother and her first memory was of her mother's attempted suicide. When she was very young she was placed in care and raised by four sets of foster parents. During that time, she went to eight different schools. She left school at age 16 to become an 'exotic dancer' and then joined a dance troupe that toured Europe. She gained fame for being a member of the girl group Atomic Kitten. However she left in 2001 when she became pregnant. The band enjoyed limited success in the UK, but the group had a major hit in South East Asia with Cradle while she was a member. She later admitted to never singing on any of the group's songs, although her spoken voice was featured on the group's biggest hit "Whole Again" which reached #1 shortly after she left the girl group. In 2001, a nude photograph of her appeared in the UK tabloid newspaper The Sunday Sport. After Atomic Kitten: On January 5, 2002 she married Westlife star Brian McFadden at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Rathfeigh, County Meath, becoming Kerry McFadden. Taken hostage: On July 15, 2007 Katona was allegedly taken hostage with her husband and daughter at their home in Wilmslow. Three burglars held them captive and allegedly even threatened to kill them, taking the family's mobile phones to make sure they could not contact anyone. Katona was allegedly held at knifepoint downstairs whilst other burglars forced her husband to show them where the valuables were kept. None of them were physically harmed but the burglars eventually left with a Blue BMW and other valuables, the total loss being in the region of £100-150,000. The family are currently staying with relatives and are unsure whether to return to the house, which they moved into about two months previously. On Tuesday night, 19th July, Police found the car, which was not damaged, 10 miles away on Reeves Road in Chorlton, Manchester. It was taken to a secure garage to be forensically examined. On July 19th Katona was admitted to The Priory hospital suffering from bi-polar disorder. Her spokesman, Max Clifford, stated she had suffered from the disorder for some time but her recent symptoms were brought on by the armed robbery. Meanwhile, Katona is engaged in an ongoing legal action by former husband Brian McFadden. He is attempting to gain custody over the children fathered whilst married to Katona. The grounds include Katona's drug use (and alleged addiction) and her mental state (she was recently treated for bi-polar disorder, a condition which can be caused and/or exacerbated by the use of certain illegal drugs). In August 2007, Kerry refused to take a drug test to prove that she can take care of her two children. Books: Emily Herbert wrote a biography about Katona in September 2005 called Kerry: Story of a Survivor. Katona released her own autobiography on October 5, 2006 titled Too Much, Too Young with ghostwriter Fanny Blake and Kerry's mother who consented to have her story told as well. " ... I put my mum's life story in the book as well ... so people could understand my mum ... my mum was involved in the book heavily ... I asked my mum if I could do the book first ... " In October 2007, Katona is due to release her first novel. Tough Love follows the story of the Crompton family and will be published by Ebury Press. She will also be releasing a further two novels about the Cromptons in Spring 2008.
