Vonnegut was born on November 11, 1922, in Indiana. Living in poverty back when he was a child due to the economic circumstances back then led his father into depression and his mother into suicide. This major change in Kurt Vonnegut's life influenced his private life as well as his career as a writer afterward. He majored in in chemistry and biology then enrolled in the world war two Army, this shaped the second influence in Vonnegut career, specially him being captured as a prisoner for Germany.Soon after the war he completed a journey with literature starting with anthropology in the University of Chicago and writing short stories. Throughout his thirties and fourties, Kurt Vonnegut wrote many novels, where he depicted the society he lived in while using fictional scenes. Vonnegut's became well known in sixty nine with the against war novel "Slaughterhouse-Five" which is inspired by his own experience. Years later he announced that he will stop writing and that Timequake would be his last novel. It was very clear that like his mother and father Kurt Vonnegut came to many points in his life where he was noticeably depressed. In 2007 Kurt Vonnegut died as a result of a fall that caused him a sever brain damage. At the age of 84 a beloved American writer has left this world. |
