August 19, 2008: "Lauren Conrad on the End of 'The Hills'"
In an interview with the New York Post's Pop Wrap, Lauren Conrad touches on a subject sensitive to many fans of 'The Hills' -- the end of their favorite reality series. "The show is definitely reaching its end," L.C. tells the paper. "It's been so amazing and I've loved most of it, but I think there is going to come a time where I need to live my life for myself and not in front of viewers. I'm young and having fun with it now, but it's not something I am going to be able to do forever, obviously." Asked whether she'll remain a presence in the entertainment biz after the series wraps, she says: "It's something I've been thinking about because I think we're all kinda getting ready for the next step in our lives. I've always been interested in the production side of a show -- how they put together storylines has always fascinated me but they [producers] won't let me [participate]. I think it would be really fun to be on the other side of the camera." Last, how does L.C. feel about being an instrumental part of one of the most successful shows in MTV history? "I'll probably think about it once it's over," she says. "But I do think the show will be something that I look back on and say, 'I'm so glad I did that, I'm so glad it's over.'" *** August 5, 2008: "Lauren Conrad's Fashion Line To Be Featured At The Emmys, Report Says" Lauren Conrad's fashion line is going to the Emmys. Report states that her creations will be worn by the models who hand the awards to winners at the awards show. According to E! news, the 22-year-old reality TV star will not only be a presenter at the TV award-giving show, but her designs from fashion collection will also be featured. The models who stand at the corner of the stage waiting to hand the statuettes to the winners will be donning her dresses. The girls will also be wearing designs from Beyonce's fashion house, but the R&B songstress is not expected to attend the event. Conrad's fashion line was recently dropped by high end L.A. boutique Kitson for "lackluster" sales. The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on September 21. *** August 4, 2008: "Lauren Conrad Dating Kyle Howard?" Are Lauren Conrad and Kyle Howard dating? They'll be the last to tell – for right now. The Hills star played coy when asked Saturday about reports from pals that she and the My Boys actor are an item. "I'm just dating," Conrad, 22, told PEOPLE on Saturday at the Do Something Awards Pre-Party for the Teen Choice Awards. "I'm single and having fun." Howard, 30 was more direct. "I'm not going to answer that," he said Saturday at the Celebrity Kickball event hosted by French Connection in Malibu. *** July 29, 2008: "Lauren Conrad On Cover of CosmoGirl" Lauren Conrad is gracing the new cover of Cosmo Girl!, on stands August 5 In her new interview for the mag, the 22-year-old reality TV vixen reveals that what you see on the tube is not necessarily the full story in real life. "I know I look tortured, but it's a TV show and you don't see all sides of people," she explains. "'The Hills' is meant to be a dramatic show about relationships." The Orange County native and budding clothing designer also talks about becoming more Hollywood savvy, now that she's in the spotlight; where to see and be seen -- and alternately how to dodge the paparazzi; and the pitfalls of dating when everyone knows who you are! "I'm at a point in my life where I'd need to be with someone who could understand [that I have to put my career first right now] and is willing to be part of the show," she says, "But I don't want to end up with a person who'd want to be on the show." *** July 16, 2008: "Lauren Conrad "Hurt And Disappointed" Over False Dog Show Walkout Allegation" Reality TV star Lauren Conrad is "extremely hurt and disappointed" over allegations that she has walked out of a benefit show by Animal Fair magazine. A press release for the magazine said that the 22-year-old was among the celebrity dog walkers to prance down the catwalk with her dog wearing a matching one-of-a-kind designed outfit. The "Paws for Style" is a fashion show organized by the magazine for the Humane Society in New York on Tuesday. However, the publication's editor Wendy Diamond claims that the TV personality duped them by skipping out on a part of the fashion show. She also said that Conrad's trip was paid by them. But Conrad denies skipping anything. She writes on her MySpace blog, "I am extremely hurt and disappointed that Wendy Diamond would go to the press and attack me with untrue statements." "I agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which I did. I was not aware of any other commitments." "Anyone who knows me, knows this is not the kind of person I am or who my parent's raised me to be. It's just embarrassing that people are saying these things abut me." "I was trying to do a good thing and help out a charity by doing everything I agreed to do. I continue to support the Humane Society, as it is a wonderful organization." *** May 19, 2008: "Lauren Conrad Sex Tape is Real" While Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt never actually saw the alleged sex tape featuring Lauren Conrad and her ex-beau Jason Wahler, they insist that it did in fact exist at one point. "It was not a rumor, that's all I have to say," said Montag during a pre-taped appearance on broadcast of the syndicated The Tyra Banks Show. "From what I heard from confirmed sources is that her ex-boyfriend was going around trying to sell it." Lauren Conrad has continuously insisted that a sex tape with her and Wahler does not exist, and has also previously alleged her much publicized ongoing tiff with Montag began when she and Pratt began spreading rumors about the alleged sex tape. "I didn't see it. I never saw it," Montag told Banks about the tape. "But I knew there was something, and I was like, 'You've got to figure it out.' Then it came out, and it was blamed on me. I was the only one trying to help her through the situation." When pressed by Banks about being sure the tape exists, Montag responded, "I'm not really allowed to elaborate" -- however nothing confined Pratt. "I know for 100% fact that it did exist -- 1,000%," he said. "I know for a fact, and I would take a lie-detector test because I know." While Pratt said he also never actually saw it, he insisted it once existed and added he suspects why Conrad keeps denying it. "She can blame it on us because she wants to keep her image clean," he told Banks. "That's fine, we're your scapegoat villains. What are we going to do?" During an interview on American Idol host Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show, Pratt reiterated that the sex tape did exist at one point. "I just wanted to address something here -- there were never rumors," said Pratt. "The bottom line is, I heard L.C. crying about this sex tape -- that Jason Wahler did have and was trying to sell -- so many times for six months, and Heidi trying to get it back with L.C.. But they never got it back. So there's no rumors, bottom line. Heidi never made something up. Jason and L.C. had this, Jason was trying to sell it, Heidi tried to get it back with Lauren. They blame Heidi once it goes public." Despite Montag and Lauren Conrad's apparently unsuccessful attempt to recover the tape, Pratt said he knows why the footage it contained never went public. "[Conrad's] parents called [Wahler's] parents and shut it down," he said. "It's that simple." *** April 11, 2008: "Pamela Anderson And Lauren Conrad Going To The White House" Lauren Conrad and Pamela Anderson are among the celebrities on the list to attend the White House Press Correspondents Association Dinner on April 26. Like Conrad, blogger Perez Hilton, another attendee, will be a guest of the Bloomberg financial network. They could hobnob with Ben Affleck, Eric Dane, Tim Daly, Hayden Panettiere and Marcia Cross — all of whom are also on the list, a Correspondents rep tells Us. Started in 1920, the WHCA's annual dinner has become a Washington, D.C. tradition and is usually attended by the President and Vice President. *** March 31, 2008: "Lauren Conrad Comes Down From The Hills" The star of The Hills is going a little stir crazy. Kneeling on her seat, Lauren Conrad is spinning the swivelling chair around in the boardroom of Holt Renfrew's corporate headquarters, saying something to her publicist, who is not really paying attention because she's busy checking her BlackBerry. The reality TV star was in town Saturday to launch the latest collection in her clothing line and it's been a packed day of interviews. She snaps back into professional mode when the interview starts, but the short chair ride is a reminder of just how young the 22-year-old is. "Sorry, I've been in this room for hours," she says in her slight California accent. "And I'm a little sleep deprived." Anybody who's watched The Hills knows all about Conrad's busy life of friends, boys, clubbing and, of course, the drama that ensues on this pseudo-reality show. Whatever your take on how fake it is, the reality is The Hills returned for the second half of its third season last week after a three-month break and set record ratings: 4.7 million U.S. viewers (220,000 in Canada, becoming the highest rated show in MTV history in the U.S.; MTV Canada's third highest). The episode featured Conrad and her fellow Teen Vogue intern Whitney Port jetting off to Paris to help with the Crillon Ball. Hills-torians know that Conrad missed her chance to go to the City of Light at the end of the first season to stay and live with Jason Wahler, her boyfriend at the time. So going this time was a dream come true, although as with everything in Conrad's life, there's the reality we see, and the one that she lives. "Paris was amazing. The city itself was great, but it was a little overwhelming, because we worked the entire time," she says. Of course, she'd go back in a minute and preferably without cameras – as if it would make any difference. Conrad is so hot that she's in that strange zone of celeb-reality where even when the MTV cameras are off, she's fodder for paparazzi and every utterance she makes sends the celebrity blogs into overdrive. *** Reality television celebrity, fashion student and Teen Vogue intern, Lauren Conrad picture(s) (pic) and photo gallery. Her father is an architect (designer of the Conrad family home) and her mother helps to manage his business. Lauren Conrad has a sister three years younger named Breanna (featured in Laguna Beach season three), and a brother six years younger named Brandon. According to sister Breanna's official MySpace profile, the Conrad family is Catholic. Conrad lived with her parents in Laguna Beach throughout her childhood and high school years. In early February of 2004, her senior year at Laguna Beach High School, MTV began filming Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which followed the personal lives of Conrad and seven other Laguna Beach teens. The show made the introverted Conrad an overnight celebrity. She credits the television exposure with bringing her out of her shell, saying "I went from, 'You can't take a picture of me,' to it doesn't faze me to have five cameras in the room,". After graduation from high school, Conrad's new-found independence led her to Academy of Art University in San Francisco. According to Kaitlyn Healey, one of Conrad's closest friends since elementary school, it was a shock that Conrad went away to school because before Laguna Beach she was always "the most shy, reserved person;" the show "made her a completely different person." Conrad entered Academy of Art University in the fall of 2004. She met Heidi Montag (Conrad's co-star in The Hills) at freshmen orientation and the two immediately became friends. After only one semester, Conrad left San Francisco and moved back to her parents' house. Conrad transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandisin in Los Angeles and worked as an intern at Three Dots clothing company beginning in early 2005. She also briefly dated Jason Wahler, a Laguna Beach cast member. Conrad was featured on the second season of Laguna Beach, filmed over a period of approximately six months beginning in December of 2004. In the summer of 2005 Conrad moved into a Los Angeles apartment with new roommate Montag. Conrad continued her studies at the Fashion Institute and started an internship at Teen Vogue. MTV began filming Conrad for a new reality series, The Hills, which was announced in the fall of 2005. Around that time Conrad resumed dating Wahler, who also moved to Los Angeles from Laguna Beach. When Teen Vogue offered Conrad an opportunity to spend the summer of 2006 working in Paris, France, she turned it down so that she could spend time with Wahler. Conrad and Wahler stayed together until the beginning of August 2006. Conrad acknowledged that the breakup with Wahler (described as her first love) was "the hardest thing [she has] ever done" because she "still wanted to be with him, but knew that [she] could not be." Conrad credited Montag with helping her get through the rough period following the split. MTV renewed The Hills for a second season, which filmed from late summer of 2006 through February or March of 2007. Throughout that time the friendship between Conrad and Montag deteriorated, as Montag increasingly spent her time with new boyfriend Spencer Pratt. By March 2007 Audrina Patridge, another co-star on The Hills, replaced Montag as Conrad's roommate. As of the spring of 2007, Conrad continues to attend the Fashion Institute and intern at Teen Vogue. Conrad confronted a scandal in April of 2007, when rumors circulated on hollywood gossip websites that Wahler was planning to sell a sex tape he supposedly made with Conrad when they were a couple. A represenative for SugarDVD.com indicated the company was approached by a third party claiming to have a video of Lauren and Wahler. However, the existence of a sex tape is questionable, as it has thus far failed to surface. In response to the story, Conrad posted a statement on her website asserting that she and Wahler did not make a sex tape. According to Conrad's post, Jason had nothing to do with starting the sex tape rumor. Conrad's statement also indicated that the individual responsible for the rumor was trying to damage her reputation. |
