August 11, 2008: " Lil' Wayne Daughter Reginae Carter Killed In Car Accident" Rapper Lil Wayne's daughter, Reginae Carter reportedly died in a car accident on Sunday evening. Carter was eight years old. According to a Right Celebrity, Lil Wayne's daughter died in a traffic accident late in the evening on August 10th, 2008. However, the reports have not been confirmed by the rapper nor any of his representatives. There aren't a lot of details regarding the rumored death of Reginae. Carter's mother, Antonia "Toya" Johnson, was briefly married to Lil' Wayne. Johnson gave birth to Carter when she was 14 years old. Update: According to a source, a rep for Wayne's label, Universal Records, confirmed that the rumors were false and stated that the 8-year-old is fine. Let's hope that is true! In 2004, Lil Wayne released 'Tha Carter', which finally earned Lil Wayne mass notability outside the south as a lyricist because at that time, southern rappers are stereotyped with little to no lyrical ability. On December 6th, 2005 Wayne released 'Tha Carter II' which further solidified his spot as a contemporary rapper. 'Tha Carter II' sold more than 238,000 copies debuting at no. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and has been certified platinum. The lead single off the album, "Fireman", became a hit in the US, peaking at 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The second single, "Grown Man", was solicited to urban radios in January of 2006 in hopes of spreading to Top 40 Mainstream and then to the Hot 100, but failed to do so and failed to receive any attention due to lack of promotion and no video. The third single "Hustler Muzik" howerver, received a video, and gained minor attention also. On August 14, 2006, Lil Wayne was arrested on charges of possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Police claim that Lil Wayne was in possession of several unlabeled bottles " one containing 60 pills of Alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax and another one containing 59 hydrocodone pills " along with "two small burnt joints of marijuana,". He was released from Georgia's Fulton County Jail on $11,000 bond following his arrest. On July 22, 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested after his first New York City show at the Beacon Theater. Police officers smelled marijuana emanating from his tour bus, and preceded to search the vehicle. The officers found Wayne sitting with a handgun.
