Birth name: Lila Elaine McCann Born: December 4, 1981 Steilacoom, Washington, USA. Lila McCann biography (bio): McCann got her musical start at age four, when she sang "You Are My Sunshine" in her father's road band. For several years afterward, she sang many local events in her town. While in high school, Lila was given a demo of the song "Down Came a Blackbird"; she then recorded her own demo, which helped her to land a record deal with Elektra Records. Her debut album, Lila, came out in 1997. Although the album did not reach the Top 40, it was still certified platinum, and the album's second single ("I Wanna Fall In Love") was a Top 5 hit. Time magazine named her "Most Successful New Artist" in the same year. The singer's first national tour was with the George Strait Country Music Festival, in which Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Lee Ann Womack also performed. McCann's second album, 1999's "Something in the Air", sold more than 500,000 and was certified gold. It produced a top 10 hit in the single "With You". Her third album, "Complete" was released in 2001. She worked with a new producer, David Malloy; however, the album failed to produce a Top 40 hit. She has also acted in Walker, Texas Ranger in a part that was written for her. McCann currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. |
