September 3, 2008: "Lily Allen Reveals Her Friend Was Kidnapped For Six Days, Thanks Police For Saving Him"

Lily Allen has revealed her friend was kidnapped and kept in a car boot for six days. The singer was left "terrified" by the ordeal and thanked London's Metropolitan Police for foiling the plot as she co-hosted the GQ Men of the Year awards Tuesday night.

Lily, who shared presenting duties with Sir Elton John, said: "My friend Charlie was kidnapped a few weeks ago and was kept in a car boot for six days without any food or anything. It was really scary. Thank you to the Met for getting my friend back, we were all terrified. From what I hear, the police did a fantastic job."

Lily's friend, only identified as Charlie, and another man - both in their 20s - were working in a West London sports store when armed men allegedly walked in and forced them into a car on August 2.

The kidnappers are said to have demanded a $150,000 ransom from the two men's families and held them at a property in Thamesmead, South East London.

Lily added: "He was in a car boot being driven around London before he was found. It was all over money."

Police have arrested six men in connection with the kidnap plot. Four are charged with conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to blackmail and false imprisonment. One man has been charged with two offenses of kidnap and one offense of robbery. The sixth man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

August 21, 2008: "Lily Allen Admits She Isn't A Good Person When She's On Drugs"

Lily Allen doesn't know if she will stop taking drugs.

The "Smile" singer, who attempted to punch a passer-by after leaving a London nightspot in the early hours of Tuesday morning, admits she isn't a "good person" when she is under the influence of illegal substances but still can't bring herself to quit.

She told Paper magazine: "I'm not going to say I'm never going to do drugs again. I just know I'm not a good person on drugs."

However, the 23-year-old star insists she did stop using recreational drugs after she discovered she was expecting a baby with then-boyfriend Ed Simons last November.

Lily, who suffered a miscarriage in January, says she vowed to clean up her life for the sake of her unborn child.

She said: "It was the hardest thing for me. When I realized I was pregnant and realized I wanted to have the baby, I made a huge decision - to make my life more stable."

Lily has previously openly discussed her drug use, admitting she first began experimenting with ecstasy when she was just 14.

Lily also claimed she thinks her drink was spiked in June this year when she was pictured being carried out of a party for the Glamour Magazine awards in London.

She said: "I did drink that night. Then I woke up in my bed at 8 am and felt totally fine. So I Googled myself, and I saw the pictures."

"It was awful. I can't believe I got into that state. It leads me to believe somebody put something in my drink or something. Because it's totally not in my repertoire to do something like that."

August 19, 2008: "Lily Allen Attempts To Punch A Woman Outside A Club"

Lily Allen attempted to punch a woman outside a London nightspot in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident took place after the unnamed passer-by allegedly hurled abuse at the "Smile" singer outside Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. Lily then retaliated by trying to hit the woman three times.

The woman is said to have laughed off the incident as Lily was taken to a waiting car by her friend, TV presenter Miquita Oliver. In the process, Lily exposed her breasts.

A source said: "A woman outside started shouting to Lily and she just lashed out at her - though she missed with her punch. "Not surprisingly, the woman didn't seem that scared by Lily. In fact, she seemed more bemused by it all."

The 23-year-old singer was reportedly in a friendlier mood earlier in the evening, laughing with photographers waiting outside Soho's Groucho Club as she playfully punched the air as she left the nightspot.

This is not the first time Lily's temper has got her into trouble. Last year, she was arrested and cautioned for kicking a photographer after a night out in London.

July 8, 2008: "Lily Allen Back Together Again With Ed Simons"

Lily Allen is dating Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons again.

The singer, 23, is believed to have reconciled with the 38-year-old after revealing she is no longer single on Facebook social networking website yesterday.

Both Lily and Ed altered the status on their personal profiles to "in a relationship." The couple were then swamped with messages of congratulations from friends.

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis posted a message on the website to the couple saying: "We knew it! What a hullabaloo."

The reunited couple have been spotted together on numerous occasions in recent weeks, including shopping for utensils for Lily's new house. They were also inseparable at the Glastonbury festival - where Lily made a surprise appearance with Mark Ronson - as Ed comforted Lily following the death of her grandmother.

A friend of the couple told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Ed was there for Lily when she really needed him and that has brought them closer together. They have decided to give it another go."

Lily has just completed work on her new album, which has the working title 'Stuck on the Naughty Step' and is due for release next year.

July 1, 2008: "Lily Allen and Lindsay Lohan To Record a Duet"

Lily Allen is set to record a duet with Lindsay Lohan.

The 'Smile' singer reportedly wants to team up with the 'Mean Girls' actress - who has had a pop career as well as acting success - for a track on her eagerly-awaited second album, according to New! magazine.

However, the proposed duet, entitled 'Wherever We Go', has not gone down well with some music fans who think it could harm Lily's career.

Lily became friends with Lindsay after spending time with her and the actress' rumoured girlfriend Samantha Ronson, while she was in Los Angeles working on her album.

Lily - who knows Samantha after working with her producer brother Mark Ronson - said: "I came back to the hotel about seven and went straight to dinner with my number one fan. We went to this place called Il Sole, the food was amazing. I love truffles big time and they didn't disappoint.

"Samantha brought along a rather famous friend - and about 50 million paparazzi."

June 25, 2008: "Lilly Allen Scared Her Mother Will Bring Fans To Her Home"

Lily Allen is terrified her mother will invite "random fans" into her house, she claims her mother Alison Owen is always suggesting her daughter should let her dedicated fans stay with her as a thank-you for their support, but Lily refuses to take the risk.

She said: "There was one group of girl fans who flew all the way over from Texas just for one night to see me. I met them briefly. It was really flattering. I told my mother and she was like, 'Oh my God, that's so sweet, well you should let them stay here!' And I was like, 'You what? Are you f***ing mental?' I'm scared of home in case my mum meets random fans and brings them home for a cup of tea!"

June 12, 2008: "Lily Allen Blasts Perez Hilton For "Mean" Comments"

British singer Lily Allen has blasted gossip blogger Perez Hilton for calling her a mess on his website, She claims that Perez is a "mean man."

Lily Allen has reacted to Hilton's blog post about her when he said she's more known for being a "tragic train wreck than a musician" and suggesting that she's jealous of a newcomer.

Hilton wrote:

"Lily used to be Capitol Records' "golden girl" but lately she's just been slipping. She's known these days more for being a tragic train than a musician. She knows it too. That must hurt! And, now, it seems she's been replaced."

"...But the real insult, according to the source, came when the label 'replaced a photo of Lily Allen with one of Kate Perry (the newcomer)' in its office main lobby."

Hilton also said that Allen's new material "s-u-c-k-s."

Lily Allen didn't let the post past. She retaliated on her blog that Hilton often bullies young and successful artists. She also denied his allegations that she had smoked and drank when she was pregnant.

Allen explained that she understands why her record is focusing their energy on someone else because she has not written anything lately.

She admitted, however, that she is making headlines for her behavior other than her music nowadays. She said, "If I'm honest, it's probably because part of it is true these days I am more known for being a train wreck than a musician, and it does hurt."

She adds, "Anyway, I've got nothing against Perez personally, I don't assume to know him, what I do know is though. Is that he has a HUGE crush on my old manager, who I fired with a few months ago. Maybe this is his way of getting in his good books, or maybe it's because I turned down the opportunity of going on his TV show when he asked me to, who knows?"

Lily Allen wrote on her official blog: "I left to go the studio and was accompanied by some new friends! Seriously, I have never been followed like we were today, there were literally 20 cars of paparazzi with us."

"Not that I'm complaining, they were perfectly pleasant. In fact, we had a bit of a laugh with them and I quite fancied one of them!"

Lohan and Lily Allen were pictured laughing and chatting at Il Sole restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night, where they were joined by their mutual friend, DJ Samantha Ronson.

Lily Allen later wrote about the meeting on her blog. However, she only mentioned Lohan in passing and without saying her name, She wrote: "I came back to the hotel at about 7 and went straight to dinner with my number one fan and avid reader of my blog Samantha."

Lily Allen continued: "We went to this place called Il Sole, the food? Amazing. I love truffles, big time, and they didn't disappoint. Samantha brought a rather famous friend with her and about 50m paparazzi."

June 9, 2008: "Lily Allen "Terrified" Of Turning Into Her Mother"

Lily Allen is terrified she is turning into her mother.

Lily Allen is so worried she is showing the same traits as her mother Alison it is making her feel sick.

Lily Allen wrote on her blog: "We did go to my favorite sushi place last night, Ita-cho on Beverly. The miso eggplant (aubergine) is to die for, and the grilled peppers were pretty killer. 'To die for, killer?' "

"Oh my god, I think I am getting old and uncool, I just used naff adjectives to describe something I like. Like my mother saying, 'groovy' or 'yumsville'. Oh my god I'm going to be sick! I hope that was the jet lag talking."

Lily Allen also revealed she was treated to a ride in an airport buggy. She added: "They drove us to the gate on one of those buggy things as well, which was really fun, never been on one of those before. I don't think all the business men liked us very much, some pink haired weirdo!"

Lily Allen biography (bio):
Lily Rose Beatrice Allen is a British singer-songwriter best known for songs such as "Smile" and "LDN". She is the daughter of actor/musician Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen.
Her single "Smile" reached number one on the UK singles charts in July 2006. In December 2006 her debut album Alright, Still was voted the third best album of the year by Mixmag. In 2007 it was nominated for the award of Best British Album at the Brit Awards and for Best New Artist at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

Early years:
Allen was born in Hammersmith, west London, daughter of Welsh-born comedian Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. She and her family eventually settled in the North London borough of Islington. She has an older sister, Sarah; a younger brother, Alfie Owen-Allen (who was the subject of her song "Alfie"); and a younger sister Rebecca. She also has a number of half-siblings. Lily Allen is also the goddaughter of late Clash guitarist, Joe Strummer.
In 1988, Allen appeared on The Comic Strip Presents... episode "The Yob", which her father had co-written. When Allen was four years old, her father left the family. Allen claims to have grown up with her mother in a working class environment, living in a council house environment for most of her childhood. This certainly seems at odds with the fact that she attended some of England's costliest public schools; Allen attended 13 schools in all, including Hill House School and Bedales School, and was expelled from several of them for drinking, smoking and performing fellatio. In her free time, she listened to artists such as The Specials, T.Rex, and Happy Mondays and read.
Allen made an appearance as a lady-in-waiting in the 1998 film Elizabeth, produced by her mother. She dropped out of school at age fifteen, not wanting to "spend a third of her life preparing to work for the next third of her life, to set herself up with a pension for the next third of her life." After her family went to Ibiza on vacation, Allen told her mother that she was staying with friends but remained in Sant Antoni de Portmany instead. She earned money by working at a Plastic Fantastic record store and dealing in ecstasy.
Allen's vocals appeared on the single "Who Invented Fish & Chips?" by Fat Les, in which her father was the lead singer of the band.

Record label interest:
Allen met her first manager, George Lamb, when he saved her from several assailants and sent her home. Allen was rejected by several labels, which she attributed to her drinking and being the daughter of Keith Allen. Lily eventually used her father's connections to get signed to Warner Music in 2002. When the executive who had signed her left, the label lost interest and she left without releasing the folk songs they had presented her.
Allen studied horticulture with the intent of becoming a florist but changed her mind and returned to music. She began writing songs, and her manager introduced her to production duo Future Cut in 2004. They worked in a small studio in the basement of an office building. In 2005 Allen was signed to Regal Records; they gave her GB£25,000 to produce an album, though they were unable to provide much support for it due to their preoccupation with other releases such as Coldplay's X&Y and Gorillaz' Demon Days.

Popularity on MySpace:
Allen created an account on MySpace and began posting demos in November 2005. The demos attracted thousands of listeners, and 500 limited edition 7" vinyl singles of "LDN" were rush-released, reselling for as much as £40. Allen also produced two mixtapes — My First Mixtape and My Second Mixtape — to promote her work: they included tracks by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Dizzee Rascal, and Ludacris. As she accumulated tens of thousands of MySpace friends, The Observer Music Monthly, a magazine published in The Observer, took interest. Few people outside of her label's A&R department knew who she was, so the label was slow in responding to publications wanting to report about her.
In March 2006, OMM included an article about Allen's success through MySpace, and she received her first major mainstream coverage appearing in the magazine's cover story two months later. The success of her songs convinced her label to allow her more creative control over the album and to use some of the songs that she had written instead of attempts to work with mainstream producers. Allen decided to work with producers Greg Kurstin and Mark Ronson, finishing the rest of the album in two weeks.

Debut album:
Allen's debut album, Alright, Still, was released as a limited-edition 12" vinyl in the UK on July 3, 2006; the full CD release followed in the UK and the rest of Europe on July 17, 2006. The album features between 11 and 14 tracks (depending on the copy of the CD), most of which were previewed on her MySpace page, including the single "Smile" (the first song she ever wrote with Future Cut), "LDN", "Knock 'Em Out", and "Alfie". "Friday Night", co-written with Jonny Bull, is also included, alongside "Littlest Things", produced by Mark Ronson. The album was released on January 30, 2007 in the United States, selling 34,000 copies to land #20 on the Billboard Album Charts.
In September 2006, "Smile" was made available on the United States version of Apple Inc.'s iTunes Music Store. As of December 2006, her music video for "Smile" has been played on various music channels as well as the song getting a little airplay. She has also done several promotional ads for MTV as their Discover and Download artist of the month for January.
On the week ending on January 28, 2007, British artists made chart history taking all Top 10 places in the Official UK Albums chart for the first time since the chart was established in 1956, according to British record labels trade association the BPI, the album "Alright, Still" was number nine that week.
Entertainment Weekly named "Alright, Still" as one of the top 10 albums of 2006 despite the fact that it had not yet been released in the U.S. The album was released in the United States on 30 January 2007, with "Smile" serviced to radio in January as the first single. The U.S. version contains three additional tracks: "Nan, You're A Window Shopper," "Blank Expression" (on the iTunes version) and a new remix of "Smile" by Mark Ronson.
In concert, Allen performed a parody of 50 Cent's "Window Shopper", called "Nan, You're a Window Shopper", which was commercially released as a B-side to "LDN", because approval was not given in time for the Alright, Still release. Nonetheless, the song appears on the U.S. version of Alright, Still.

Recent activity:
Allen provided backing vocals on the Basement Jaxx song "Lights Go Down" (from Crazy Itch Radio) and appears on tracks on Robbie Williams's latest album, Rudebox on the Manu Chao-cover "Bongo Bong and Je Ne T'Aime Plus" (produced by Mark Ronson ) and also on "Keep On". She also provides vocals on "Rawhide" by Jamie T and "Wanna Be" by Dizzee Rascal.
On 5 March 2007 "Alfie" was released. It reached #15 in the UK Singles-Chart. Upon hearing this song, her brother Alfie threw her laptop out of a window in revenge. Her newest single "Oh My God", produced by Mark Ronson reached #12 in the UK (downloads only), in the second week it jumped up to #8.
Allen performed to positive reviews when Irving Plaza was rechristened as The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza on April 11, 2007. Her style of cocktail dresses and athletic shoes gained popularity, resulting in the May 2007 premiere of Lily Loves, a line of dresses, shoes, and accessories sold through New Look. Fashion advisors Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine were quick to praise her New Look range for being designed more for the "curvy" women, rather than the clothing lines of Kate Moss and Madonna which they argue are only limited to the women with the slimmest figures.
Allen is currently working with Future Cut on a second album but has avoided mentioning details about it, stating that "that's a mistake a lot of people make these days, when they have a successful first album, and then the record company pushes them into rushing a second one."
In June 2007, she hosted The Friday Night Project, in which she showed her co-hosts and the audience her third nipple.
On August 5, 2007 Allen was detained at Los Angeles international airport for five hours and questioned over an alleged assault on a photographer in London in March. It was reported that her U.S. working visa had been revoked, though her manager denies this.
Later in the month Allen canceled several European Festival appearances. She posted a photo of herself holding up a doctor's letter on her MySpace page to prove she was not "neglecting my fans". "I've got sinusitis and strep throat - I don't even know what that is - and have been advised to take a couple of weeks off by a doctor in L.A. and a doctor here"

Public persona:
Allen has been the subject of many controversies, mainly because of her expressed opinions of other musicians. She went to private school with Luke Pritchard of The Kooks, made some disparaging comments about them, and then covered their song "Naïve" on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge to show there were "no hard feelings". She has also called Bob Geldof a "cunt" and a "sanctimonious prat", and has claimed that Kylie Minogue performing at the Glastonbury Festival would be the ultimate insult to the event. Her 2007 performance on the pyramid stage included negative lyrics directed towards Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.
She also said that everyone who bought Paris Hilton's debut album should be killed off.
When asked by the NME how she would celebrate if her debut single, "Smile", got to Number 1 in the UK charts, she responded "gak" (a slang term for cocaine). She immediately said that she was joking, but the remark was widely quoted in the tabloid press. Allen has since apologized for the remark. She admitted in an NME interview that she worked as an ecstasy drug dealer at the age of 15 whilst living in Sant Antoni de Portmany, though she wasn't very good at it.
During her August 2007 V Festival appearances she called President Bush "A fucking cunt" and made fun of the well publicized troubles of fellow British singer Amy Winehouse saying "It's the end of the weekend, you have got to have a drink. Here's to Amy Winehouse... ha!". She also took digs at Winehouse's heroin addiction and eating disorders.

Reception:
Allen has been the subject of both strong positive and negative reactions. She was included on the NME Cool List for 2006, but she complained in her blog that the treatment was "fucking patronising". She was voted the third coolest person of the year in NME Magazine. She ranked "Number One Reason to Love '07" and "Hottest Woman of Pop/R&B." in Blender magazine. On the other hand, she was also rated number 10 in BBC Three's Most Annoying Person of 2006.
Rapper Example has recorded a new version of "Smile" called "Vile", which is an answer song written from the perspective of the ex-boyfriend (although he was never actually Allen's boyfriend). Both songs were then parodied by Chris Moyles on his Radio 1 breakfast show in a song called "Piles". "LDN" has spawned an answer song by rapper Sway DaSafo and a remix by UK grime artist JME.
