Birth name: Amanda Louise Smith. Born: July 17, 1969 England, UK. Height: 5' 7" (1.70 m). Measurements: 33 1/2-24-33 1/2. Spouse(s): -Ian Mosby (2002 - present) they have one child. -Pat van den Hauwe (June 1993 - 1996) (divorced). -Bill Wyman (2 June 1989 - 1991) (divorced). In 1983 at age 14 she started dating the then 47-year-old Rolling Stones's bassist Bill Wyman. The two eventually married in 1989 and divorced in 1991. At the same time Wyman's son was engaged to Mandy Smith's mother (they would later marry). The press coverage that surrounded these affairs largely contributed to Mandy's career as a singer. At age 17 she was signed to PWL by Stock Aitken Waterman. The SAW team wrote and produced her first two singles - "I Just Can't Wait" and "Positive Reaction". Collaboration with Daize Washbourne brought another single, "Boys and Girls". Despite the lack of any British chart success with these singles, an album, Mandy, was released in 1988. She also recorded the original version of "Got To Be Certain", which would later be the second international single release for fellow PWL act, Kylie Minogue. Kylie's version was a number one hit in Australia and number two in the UK. Mandy's version remained unreleased until 2005 when it was premiered for the first time on PWL Radio and later included on the 2005 release Stock, Aitken & Waterman - GOLD as a special bonus track. Mandy's version includes slightly different lyrics to Kylie's, yet the backing music and production is virtually identical. During the 1980s and 1990s Mandy appeared in various TV series and shows. She also appeared in numerous magazines as a model and celebrity. On 19 June 1993 she married for the second time, to professional footballer Pat van den Hauwe, but this only lasted two years. In 2001 she was briefly engaged to Ian Mosby with whom she had a son, Max Harrison Mosby. By now, Mandy had only celebrity as a career: In 1994, she got the "Rear of the Year" British award, which is given to people with a notable posterior, while in 1995, Mandy entered the FHM's list of "100 Sexiest Women in the World" (72 place). |
