Birth name: Michele Tafoya (Vandersall). Born: December 17, 1964 in Manhattan Beach, California, USA. Michele Tafoya biography (bio): She currently works for ESPN as a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football and NBA games on ABC. Prior to joining ABC Sports and ESPN in 2000, she worked for several years for CBS Sports, covering the Winter Olympics and various games in the NFL, college football and college basketball. She covered the men's basketball team at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for WQAS-AM in Charlotte. She then reported for radio station KFAN-AM in Minneapolis, covering the Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota women's basketball team, as well as serving as a sports anchor for WCCO-TV. She still lives in Minnesota. She received a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988, and a masters in business administration from the University of Southern California in 1991. Michele married Mark Vandersall in 2000, and gave birth to her first child, a son named Tyler Bruce Vandersall, on November 21, 2005. She returned to help ABC in their coverage of Super Bowl XL in Detroit as a field reporter with Suzy Kolber. For the 2006 NFL football season, she and Kolber worked ESPN Monday Night Football games as field reporters. When starting at KFAN Michele worked with radio personality Thor Tolo. After her first national gig Michele got the nickname "Limo" from Dan Barreiro, former sports columnist and fellow radio personality on KFAN. This was because on her first national gig she was picked up by a limousine. She continues to contribute on occasion to the KFAN family. |
