July 11, 2008: " Nickelback on Live Nation"
Live Nation is really racking in musicians as Nickelback have been confirmed to now be part of the corporation. According to a new report, Nickelback’s worldwide contract with Live Nation will cover 3 touring and album cycles with an option for a fourth. The deal also gives Live Nation the rights to Nickelback recordings, DVDs, merchandise and endorsements. Talk about a monopoly. No numbers have been revealed regarding the deal but I’m pretty sure that they’re not worth Madonna, U2 or Shakira’s deals. The band’s last tour may have been a success, grossing more than $67 million, but they’re not necessarily a sure thing. *** April 4, 2008: " Nickelback DUI" Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger was found guilty of drunk driving on Tuesday by a Canadian provincial judge. In June 2006, the rocker decided to drive his $175,000 Lamborghini at 160km/hour down a Surrey, Canada street with a blood alcohol content of .14. It’s highly fortunate that he didn’t end up killing someone or himself for that matter. Chad didn’t show up in court during his fragmented trial which was heard in Surrey in November and January. His lawyer has asked the judge to postpone sentencing until the appeal process has run its course but the judge declined. The singer is required to be in court for sentencing on May 1. *** Music hard-rock Nickelback band pictures (pic) and photo gallery, albums covers pictures. Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in Hanna, Alberta, in 1995 by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Vikedal. Their hit single "How You Remind Me" from their third album, Silver Side Up reached the top on the Canadian Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, making them the second Canadian band to accomplish this, the first being The Guess Who with "American Woman". Since their smash hit "How You Remind Me" in 2001, the band enjoyed major commercial (although not critical) success. Nickelback sold over 13.5 million albums in the United States and over 1.7 million in Canada, their worldwide album sales totalled almost 25 million.[citation needed] The band has won nine Juno Awards, an American Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film (Hero), and a World Music Award for World's Best-Selling Rock Artist. The band was also nominated for seven Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and ten Juno Awards. On December 4, 2006, Nickelback won three Billboard Music Awards out of five nominations. Nickelback's latest release, All the Right Reasons has already sold more than 4.8 million albums in the United States and over 7 million albums worldwide. Well over a year after its release, it still regularly appears on the top 20 of the Billboard 200.
