August 12, 2008: "Oasis Rocker Liam Gallagher Never Wanted To Be A Father"
Liam Gallagher never planned to be a father. The Oasis frontman admits he was unprepared for parenthood, but quickly realized his responsibility. He said: "I didn't always want to be a dad. Just wanted to get off my t*ts and do music but once you get your missus pregnant, you've got to step up to the plate." Despite his reluctance, Liam insists family is the most important thing to him, and praised his own abilities as a parent. He added to Britain's The Times magazine: "Family's the most important thing. The kids are just the b*****ks. I enjoy their company more than some idiot in a band or some actor. That's how I've changed." "I'm the b*****ks at being a dad. I'm top. We have a lot of fun." "I'm stricter than Nicole. I'm not Hitler, but they're getting older, they make a mess, they tidy it up." *** July 11, 2008: " Oasis in Full" Oasis thinks that nothing in this world is free and that’s why you have to pay in full for their new album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. I hope it’s worth it because they haven’t made a good album in a decade. True to form, Noel Gallagher disses Radiohead’s “pay what you think its worth” tactic. I bet he was just jealous that he didn’t think of it first. He says “That’s not our bag. I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America and the most expensive graphic designer in London, to then give it away. Fuck that.” He should also realize that money doesn’t buy you everything – not even the certainty that I’ll buy your album. *** July 7, 2008: "Oasis Rocker Noel Gallagher Approves Jay-Z's Glastonbury Performance" After questioning Jay-Z's assignment as headliner for Glastonbury Festival, Noel Gallagher has approved the rapper's controversial performance, even saying that it was "great." The Oasis rocker initially said that the slow ticket sale at the English musical festival was because of the rapper's headlining act. He told BBC, "I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong." Jay-Z responded by starting off his set with his version of "Wonderwall," Oasis' hit song at the festival. And Gallagher's response to the mock performance? He thought the rapper did a great job. He told People magazine, "I thought it was great. I love Jay-Z." "The thing is, I was actually giving my opinion about ticket sales at Glastonbury. And it really wasn't about hip-hop or anything like that." He continues, "I only caught the second half of his set. But everyone says it was great." Jay-Z also expressed his intention of making peace with the rocker. He told MTV, "I haven't spoken to him (but) I heard he was reaching out... I don't bear any grudge, it's all good." *** Music rock Oasis band pictures and photo gallery, albums and singles covers pictures. Oasis are an English rock band, formed in Manchester in 1991. Led by lead guitarist and primary songwriter Noel Gallagher and his younger brother, lead vocalist and songwriter Liam Gallagher, they are one of the most successful groups to emerge during the Britpop movement of the mid-1990s. They have sold approximately 40 million albums worldwide and have had eight UK hit singles. The Gallagher brothers are the only remaining original band members, and the present lineup is completed by rhythm/lead guitarist Gem Archer, bass guitarist Andy Bell and drummer Zak Starkey. Musically and lyrically, Oasis cite British Invasion bands such as The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks as their major influences. They also cite The Stone Roses, The Sex Pistols, The Smiths, The Jam and T.Rex as other key influences. With the success of their critically acclaimed debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), and its equally successful follow-up, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), coupled with a rivalry with their contemporary Blur, Oasis attained fame in the mid-1990s, and became one of the leaders of the Britpop movement. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspaper stories, and cultivated a reputation as both bad boys and a band of the people. At the height of their fame, Oasis' third album, Be Here Now (1997), reached #1 in the UK charts, #2 in the U.S. and also became the fastest-selling album in chart history, with almost half a million copies sold on the first day alone. The album, however, was poorly received, resulting in a fall in popularity and a backlash that nearly destroyed their career. Despite the loss of founding longtime members in the subsequent years, Oasis have managed to outlast many of their Britpop contemporaries.
