August 29, 2008: "Posing On The Cover Of Us Magazine, Shannen Doherty Finally Opens Up About The Real Reason Why She Left "BH 90210" And Why She's Coming Back" Shannen Doherty is denying she was a bad girl, fourteen years after she had been branded as such when she left her most memorable role ever on "Beverly Hills, 90210." The 37-year-old actress, who starred as Brenda Walsh in the 90s teen series, claims she and co-star Jennie Garth never got into a fistfight. She told Us magazine, "We never did. I think I would remember Jennie's fist connecting with a part of my body or a part of my face." "It just goes to show you how people will lie." Tori Spelling, Doherty and Garth's castmate in the series, had revealed in her autobiography that Doherty had been difficult on the set. She also wrote that Doherty and Garth, who played Brenda's best friend Kelly Taylor, was involved in a fistfight during one of their episode shoots. Both Doherty and Garth are reprising their characters in the new series' spin-off "90210." Doherty also reveals the secret "painful" reason why she left the show and why she's coming back in the newest issue of Us magazine. *** July 29, 2008: "Shannen Doherty Who?" That new "90210" show can't come along fast enough for Shannen Doherty. We know Shannen went to the Sheriff's Department in Lost Hills (Malibu) to complain about paparazzi following her. The cops who talked to her were baffled ... because they had no idea who she was. The deputy at the front desk confessed he had no idea who she was. Shannen retorted that she was on TV. The deputy, in a scene reminiscent of "Take the Money and Run," began asking others around him if they knew who she was, but none did. There were a few bright spots, however, particularly a lead role in Kevin Smith's 1995 film Mallrats. In 1998, Spelling cast her in another series, Charmed, in which she played Prue Halliwell, the oldest sister of a coven of witches. She left that series in 2001, after three years. Rumors persist that her departure was against her will, due to a feud with co-star Alyssa Milano. She hosted Scare Tactics on the Sci Fi channel until the 2004 season. She was a former regular on the failed TV series North Shore, a return to her prime-time soap roots. In 2005, she was cast in the new TV comedy Love Inc. but was dropped from the show just months before the debut in fall. Doherty is now starring in her own show, Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty on the Oxygen network. In late July 2006, rumors began circulating that Doherty had plastic surgery. In August, tabloid Star Magazine published the first pictures - a cover of the issue can be seen at Doherty Do Over (this issue saw a general release date of August 3, 2006). Gossip columnists reported that Doherty was so upset over the front page coverage that she cancelled a shoot for her reality TV series. She made an appearance on The View on July 31, 2006 to counter that she had not had plastic surgery. She recently starred in the popular British sitcom Bo In The USA a program of brain child Leigh Francis. In the show she plays the role of herself being randomly harassed by Avid Merrion (Francis) who claims they had several intimate relations, she however is unaware of any of these. The show aired in October 2006 on the British channel 4 where she appeared in several episodes. Doherty posed for a nine-page pictorial in the December 2003 issue of Playboy magazine.
