The 'America's Got Talent' judge says the socialite only became famous because the "timing was right" - and believes Paris would agree with her appraisal. She said: "You've got your superstars. You've got your celebrities. And then you've got your people who I call 'infamous', like Paris Hilton, who I know." "She's got a look that a lot of younger girls liked and copied but she has no talent. I'm sure Paris would tell you that herself. The timing was right for her. She faces a whopping $1 billion lawsuit from the survivors and victims' families of China's recent earthquake. In May, the "Basic Instinct" star had sparked criticism when she said China suffered from the 2008 Sichuan earthquake because of karma. The quake killed thousands of residents and left 4.8 million people homeless. Stone later apologized for the remark. However, for New York lawyer Ming Hai, her sorry wasn't enough. According to hollyscoop, she rallied more than 1,000 survivors and victims' families to serve the star with legal documents. They demand to have a better apology from her or they'll sue for $1 billion. Hai tells the gossip website, "For the families who have lost their loved ones or lost limbs or suffered severe injuries, your... statement and act has caused extreme emotional distress." *** July 15, 2008: "Sharon Stone Once Again Angers PETA By Having Tarantula Defanged During Movie Shoot" Sharon Stone has once again angered animal rights group PETA. A former co-star of the actress has revealed she once had a tarantula defanged after refusing to film a scene with it. Ernest Borgnine, who starred with the 'Basic Instinct' actress in horror film 'Deadly Blessing', revealed: "Sharon wanted the spider's pincers removed." News of the incident - which took place in 1981 - has horrified animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Animal rights group PETA are determined to discover why Sharon "demonstrates a lack of empathy" towards animals by wearing fur, and so have written her a letter telling her they would be willing to pay for the scientific scan. The letter reads: "Scientific studies suggest that the prefrontal regions of the brains of people who lack empathy might be underdeveloped. Here's our offer - would you allow PETA to pay for a scan of the prefrontal region of your brain to determine if comments and actions that seem to demonstrate a lack of empathy are the result of a physical defect? "We urge you to undergo this test at our expense. With help, you might be able to develop empathy and curb your urge to scoff at various forms of misery and violence." Sharon Stone issued another apology on Wednesday (04.06.08) following her original statement of regret last week. In her latest backtrack, she said: "There have been numerous reports about what I said in Cannes. I would like to set the record straight about what I feel in my heart and end all of the misunderstandings. "Yes, I misspoke. I could not be more regretful of that mistake. It was unintentional. I apologise, those words were never meant to be hurtful to anyone. I am deeply saddened by the pain that this whole situation has caused the victims of the devastating earthquake in China." She came to international attention for her performance in the 1992 Hollywood blockbuster film Basic Instinct. She has been nominated for an Academy Award and has won Golden Globe and Emmy Awards. Early life: Stone was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, located between Pittsburgh and Erie, Pennsylvania. "I knew that we were going to do this leg-crossing thing and I knew that we were going to allude to the concept that I was nude, but I did not think that you would see my vagina in the scene," she said. "Later, when I saw it in the screening I was shocked. I think seeing it in a room full of strangers was so disrespectful and so shocking, so I went into the booth and slapped him and left." Stone claims to have been tricked into the stunt and considered a lawsuit. Verhoeven reportedly told her to take her panties off because they were visible through her dress, when in fact he had a camera filming between her legs and did not tell her. Medical problems: Shortly after the release of Total Recall (1990), Stone was involved in a car accident on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Immediately after the accident, she went home, not knowing she had just suffered a concussion. She woke up almost completely paralyzed and ended up lying on the floor, crying, for three days. When she finally got to a hospital, the concussion was diagnosed along with a dislocated shoulder and jaw, several broken ribs, and three compressed discs in her back. The accident left scars that are visible in some of her later screen appearances. On September 29, 2001, Stone suffered a vertebral artery dissection which caused a subarachnoid hemorrhage. She was treated quickly and made a complete recovery.
