July 9, 2008: "Sting Disapproves Of His Daughter Befriending Pete Doherty"
Sting was left furious after discovering his teenage daughter had shared a tent with Pete Doherty at the Glastonbury music festival. The Police frontman reportedly couldn't contain his anger when he was told 17-year-old Coco had become close to the troubled rocker, who has a well-documented drug addiction, at the world famous event last month. An onlooker told Britain's Mail Online website: "I was standing next to Coco's tent after Pete had played his set, and one of her friends went to check on her. She unzipped the door, and Pete was lying outstretched in her tent." "He looked very comfortable and was smoking something - the tent was full of smoke but it was impossible to tell what it was. He seemed pretty out of it, though." "Coco's father isn't too happy about her hanging around Pete because of his reputation, and hit the roof when he heard he had stayed in her tent." *** April 22, 2008: "Sting Steals The Police Idea" Roy Smith recently claimed that Sting have stolen ideas for some of The Police’s biggest hits. In a filed police report, Roy Smith claims Sting wrote ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Message In A Bottle’ after they had a lengthy conversation in the 70s about his life - including his friendship with a prostitute called Roxanne - but has since failed to honor his agreement to give him royalties for the tracks. A police spokesman said: “The initial review of the report indicates that the statute of limitations of any potential crime in this matter has expired. The alleged victim may have to pursue the matter through civil litigation.” Lawyers for Sting, Gordon Sumner, have denied all the allegations against the singer. Roy Smith says Sting heard him singing in Molly’s Garden Restaurant in Reno in 1977, and asked him if he wanted to go for a drink. After getting a beer in a local 7-Eleven convenience store, the pair went back to Sting’s basement where Roy Smith regaled the singer with stories of his past including how following his father’s death, he wrote his mother messages which he put in a bottle. *** April 14, 2008: "Sting Purchases £13.4 Million Apartment In New York" Sting has reportedly splashed out £13.4 million on a five-bedroom apartment in New York. The penthouse apartment is on the 16th floor of a 43-storey building on Central Park West. Stings new pad is 5,500 sq ft, and set over two floors, with an indoor swimming pool, a terrace, and separate quarters for domestic staff. Sting and his wife Trudie Styler apparently signed the contract to purchase the property two years ago, whilst they lived in an apartment close by. Sting and Trudie also own homes in London, Los Angeles, Tuscany in Italy, and a 60-acre estate in Wiltshire, England. *** Music Sting pictures and photo gallery, albums covers pictures.
