September 4, 2008: "Tyra Banks Is The Top-Earning Woman On Primetime TV" Tyra Banks is the top-earning woman on TV. The former supermodel raked in a staggering $23 million between June 2007 and June 2008, according to a new list by Forbes. Tyra was responsible for creating daytime TV program "The Tyra Banks Show" and "America's Next Top Model," on which she is also a producer and judge. Last year, the 34-year-old beauty signed a lucrative deal with Warner Bros., which will involve her launching "Stylista" - a new reality show set around a magazine. Tyra is also developing a straight-to-DVD series based on "Clique," a popular series of best-selling books for teenagers. Forbes staff writer Lacey Rose said: "There is still plenty of money to be made in television. Although the days of $1 million per-episode salaries may be long gone, TV's top-earning women are finding other ways to cash in." Another supermodel finished in second place. Heidi Klum, who hosts hit fashion shows "Project Runway" and "Germany's Next Top Model," made an impressive $14 million. Heidi is a successful businesswoman with several different ventures, including her own jewelery, jeans and skincare lines. "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl came third after earning $13 million. The majority of her fortune was generated from films including "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses" and from lucrative endorsement deals. In fourth place was "Desperate Housewives" actress Eva Longoria with $9 million. The 33-year-old beauty's high ranking was partly thanks to her being the face of L'Oreal shampoo and Bebe Sport's athletic wear. "ER" star Maura Tierney ($7.5 million) rounded off the top five. The "America's Next Top Model" presenter is said to dream of being the First Lady of the United States. A friend told gossip website MSNBC: "I think she actually could see herself in the White House. No, not as President, but First Lady? She'd love nothing more." In the accompanying interview in Harper's Bazaar, Tyra insisted Michelle Obama's role in the White House is as important as her husband's. She said: "With Barack Obama, his becoming president is them becoming president because Michelle was there from the beginning. Tyra Banks defended Miley Cyrus after her topless new photo shoot for Vanity. Tyra Banks says everyone needs to leave the Hannah Montana alone, she said, “She is a 15-year-old, and I just wish everybody would leave her alone!”. In the new Vanity photo shoot Miley Cyrus’ appears to be topless, Miley Cyrus said that she “feels embarrassed” after seeing the finished product. *** April 20, 2008: " Tyra and Leonardo to be Neighbors" LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is set to have TYRA BANKS as a neighbour, Tyra has reportedly bought a bamboo-floored apartment in New York’s trendy energy-efficient Riverhouse building. Actor DiCaprio bought a luxury pad in the complex last month (Mar08), according to reports. Riverhouse, which was built with non-pollutant materials and solar-powered energy, overlooks the Hudson River, and comes with programmable thermostats, a 24-hour fresh-filtered air system, a dog spa, media cafe and rooftop green landscaping. *** March 25, 2008: "Tyra Banks Stalker Released From Jail" A man accused of stalking retired supermodel Tyra Banks has been released back onto the streets of New York, 24 hours after he was arrested by police. Brady Green, 37, has allegedly been hounding Banks for months, sending her letters and leaving her phone messages since early January. The Dublin, Ga., native then began sending the talk show beauty flowers and last Tuesday turned up at the New York TV studio where she films "The Tyra Banks Show" asking to speak to the star in person. Authorities were alerted to Green's unwanted presence and found him carrying a large bag packed full of magazine cuttings and notes about Banks. He was removed from the premises, but later returned and waited for Banks to emerge from a fast food restaurant across the street. Police were called back to the scene and officers took Green into custody, charging him with stalking, harassment and criminal trespass, reports the New York Post. Green appeared before a judge at Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday, where he plead not guilty and was released by Judge Anthony Ferrara, despite Green having prior run-ins with the law. Ferrara did issue an order of protection for Banks, but staff at the posh Chelsea, N.Y., studio are reportedly still anxious about Green's return. Some people want to be divas in the studio and work for three or four hours. You had to tell Tyra to stop or she will keep you going." As for her voice, Jerkins stated, "People will be shocked. She can really sing, she's like between soprano and high alto. I challenged her vocally. I pushed her, but not too far. I pushed her where vocally it fit the track." Banks released a single with NBA star Kobe Bryant, titled "K.O.B.E.", which was performed on NBA TV, and had a single/soundtrack from the Disney movie Life-Size called "Be A Star". She also sang in the musical/movie "Eight Crazy Nights". Banks also sings the Top Model theme song. Charity: Banks acts as the patron for TZONE, a leadership program created by Banks for young girls that according to the organization, "reinforces core values of trust and support, challenges teen girls to resist negative social pressures, and enhances self-empowerment—inspiring girls to become confident leaders in their communities." Controversy Banks addressed her physique in an interview with The Sun, saying, "I am totally against plastic surgery. A lot of people think I have breast implants because I have the biggest boobs in the business. But I was a 34C when I was 17. They stay up when I wear a push-up bra. But if people could see me when I come home and take off my bra, how could they think these are fake?". She is known for being proud of her curvaceous body, and once commented, "Some models are flat-chested so they can run around without bouncing. I can't."
