Rush - A Show of Hands album cover | |||||||||||||||
A Show of Hands is a live album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1989. The album was recorded in Birmingham, New Orleans, Phoenix, and San Diego during the 1988 Hold Your Fire tour as well as in the Meadowlands (East Rutherford, NJ) during the 1986 Power Windows tour.
The material on the albums focuses primarily on the band's previous four albums (Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire); the only songs not from these albums are "Witch Hunt" and "Closer to the Heart." Also, "The Rhythm Method" is an edited drum solo by Neil Peart, and not a studio release. The album's title comes from a lyric in the band's song "Prime Mover": "alternating currents force a show of hands." Oddly, "Prime Mover" isn't actually on the record, though several other songs from the studio album it was on, 1987's Hold Your Fire, do appear. The album was re-released in a digitally remastered CD on July 1, 1997. Track listing: 1. "Intro" – :53 2. "The Big Money" – 5:59 3. "Subdivisions" – 5:22 4. "Marathon" – 6:39 5.
