| Sean-Nos Nua is the sixth full-length album by Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor. This is a whisper of an album. Most of the songs are sung slowly and quietly, but with heartfelt passion. Despite the presence of over a dozen musicians it sounds like Sinéad with Donal Lunny's understated guitar, and a distant fiddle. Several of the traditional songs are well known. By contrast, "Óró Sé Do Bheatha 'Bhaile", sung in Irish, is a rarely-performed song about Irish pirate Grace O'Malley. It is the only track that might appeal to a rock audience, because of the quirky arrangement, and an audible drummer. "Paddy's Lament" is an anguished anti-war song, with Sinead sounding almost tearful. The remaining songs celebrate lost love and longing for peace. All songs are Irish traditional.
Running time 59 minutes 56 seconds. Released 2002. Produced by Donal Lunny, Alan Branch, Adrian Sherwood. and Sinéad O'Connor. Recorded in Co Wicklow and London.
