The Pointer Sisters - Energy album cover | |||||||||||||||
Energy is an album released by the Pointer Sisters in 1978 on the Planet Records label. After a brief split, a musically reinvented and recharged Pointer Sisters returned as a trio of Ruth, Anita and June with departed member Bonnie moving on to a solo career in Motown. Their first album for Planet, this was also the first album that included rock producer Richard Perry, whom helped the girls transition out of the complicated musical melting pot of their early careers to a venture into rock. The move worked as the group scored their biggest hit in years with the Bruce Springsteen cover of "Fire". This album was also the group's first gold-certified release since 1974's That's a Plenty.
