Debbie Harry - KooKoo album cover
Koo Koo is the title of an album by Debbie Harry, released in August 1981 while Harry was still a member of the group Blondie. Produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of the 70's disco group Chic, it reached number 6 in the UK and stayed in the charts for 7 weeks.
For the promotion of Koo Koo there were plans by her record company, Chrysalis Records, display large posters of the album cover created by Swiss artist H.R. Giger in various stations of the London Underground, but officials deemed the image of Harry's face with pokers going through her head too disturbing. Harry released two singles from this album: "Backfired", which peaked at number 32 in the UK in August, 1981, and "The Jam Was Moving" which failed to chart. A third single "Chrome", was released in some parts of Europe and also failed to chart. Track listing: 1. "Jump Jump" 2. "The Jam Was Moving" 3. "Chrome" 4. "Surrender" 5. "Inner City Spillover" 6. "Backfired" 7. "Now I Know You Know" 8. "Under Arrest" 9. "Military Rap" 10. "Oasis"
