50 CENT - Curtis album cover | |||||||||||||||
Curtis is the third studio album by rapper 50 Cent. It is set to be released on June 26, 2007.
Initially, 50 Cent told MTV that he wanted to name the album Before I Self Destruct because "it could potentially happen". However, he decided to change the album's title to Curtis S.S.K. instead. The SSK, which stands for SoundScan Killa, was intended to show the pressure he feels to succeed. But once again the title was changed to just Curtis It has been reported that he wants to save the initial title (Before I Self Destruct) for his final album on Interscope Records (excluding a possible greatest hits album). 50 Cent confirmed that the album will be just as aggressive as his previous albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre. 50 Cent stated that this will be G-Unit's year. Ludacris, Justin Timberlake, & Jay-Z are also confirmed to have worked on the album. In an interview with MTV, producer Jonathan Rotem discussed working with 50 Cent on the new album. Rotem said that 50 Cent was definitely into "soulful stuff", but doesn't look as if he's made the cut. While on Tim Westwood's show on BBC Radio 1, 50 Cent confirmed that four singles with videos will be released before the release date: "Straight to the Bank", "Come & Go", "Amusement Park", and "Follow My Lead". He also stated that "Straight to the Bank" is the only track about money. On 25 April Albumvote reported that Eminem will feature on the song "Peep Show". A new track was leaked on April 27 called "Fully Loaded Clip", produced by Havoc. The new single "Amusement Park" was released on May 8, 2007. Previous songs (like a "Straight to the Bank" remix and "Fully Loaded Clip") from the LP can be listened to here. It is said from gunitworld.com that 50 will be dropping a mixtape in promotion to his album which will possibly include the album cuts and new material from Young Buck and Tony Yayo. "Fif took it to a whole nother level on this tape. It really brought out the hood in him again." states the G-Unit official DJ DJ Whoo Kid who was speaking on the mixtape. The article also states that the highly anticipated single "Come & Go" produced by Dr. Dre will be slamming air waves. The possible date for these happenings is May 25th.
