Christina Aguilera - Stripped album cover
Stripped is the second English studio album (fourth overall) by American pop singer Christina Aguilera, released in 2002. It reached the top five of the album charts in both the United States and United Kingdom and features two UK number-one hits in "Dirrty" and "Beautiful". Although perceived by many to be an album focusing on raunchy themes, it appears to be so only on a superficial level and is thought to have acquired the negative label through the leading single "Dirrty" and its raunchy video (upon closer inspection the song is actually about sexual liberation) as well as Christina's style of dress at the time. Christina supported the album with the Justified and Stripped and Stripped World Tours.

The song, "I'm OK", is a personal account of her emotionally distressing childhood. She speaks about her father and her painful memories from her early life. In this song, Christina can also be heard crying while singing it and she also recorded it while lying on the studio floor. Many other songs on the "Stripped" album speak out to her fans, in particular young girls, to express themselves in whatever way they desire, for example, the track "Soar". This song asks you "Will you love you for you at the end of it all", the "end" being after disguising who your true self is. Other tracks, such as, "Keep on Singing My Song", the last track on the album, on the surface appear to be expressing her own independence, but is also a message to fans that they themselves, if they try hard enough, can achieve whatever they like, as well as remaining independent.

The album, overall, has a very positive message, in contrast to common public belief. Believing in yourself is a consistent theme, as is remaining independent, and loving yourself for who you are.
