Fergie - The Dutchess album cover | |||||||||||||||
The Dutchess is the solo debut album of American pop singer Fergie, a member of The Black Eyed Peas, released in 2006. The title is a misspelling of the title "The Duchess of York", as Fergie (a derivate of her last name "Ferguson") and Sarah Ferguson, the real Duchess of York, share a surname and nickname. will.i.am was an executive producer for the album. Ludacris, B-Real from Cypress Hill and Rita Marley all make guest appearances. Fergie has made it clear in interviews that she will still be an active member of The Black Eyed Peas.
The Dutchess debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in the United States with sales of over 150,000. In the UK it flopped, only debuting at number twenty-seven with 9,110 copies sold. In a matter of weeks it dropped out of the official chart until the success of "Glamorous" which shot the album back into the top 30. Released on July 18, 2006, "London Bridge" was the lead single released from The Dutchess. It made the third largest jump in Billboard Hot 100 history, making a 79-point from its chart debut of eighty-four to five the following week. "London Bridge" then reached the number-one spot for three consecutive weeks. The second single, "Fergalicious", released on October 23, 2006, peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and reached number one on the Billboard Pop 100 after achieving the record for the most digital downloads in one week, having sold 295,000 digital downloads in January 2007. The third single, "Glamorous", was released on January 28, 2007 and has peaked at number one on the Hot 100, making it her third consecutive top two single and second number-one single in the U.S. from one album. Fergie has now had three top-ten hits in the past six months, equal to her group The Black Eyed Peas' tally over the past six years. Track listing: * Standard for all. 1.
