The Doors - In Concert album cover | |||||||||||||||
In Concert is a live double album, recorded by The Doors. The album's performances is culled from a variety of different concerts. In Concert combines two previous live albums plus three extra tracks into one cohesive package. The first disc was previously released as the Absolutely Live album in 1970, except that the song "Close To You" was removed and put on Disc 2, track 9. The second disc is comprised of several different releases. Track 1 of Disc 2 was originally included on the album An American Prayer. Tracks 2-8 of Disc 2 were originally released in 1983 as Alive, She Cried and track 9 is from Absolutely Live. The last two songs from Disc 2 are taken from Live At The Hollywood Bowl, and the performance of "The End" was never previously released on record before.
Track listing: Many shows were recorded during the 1970 tour to create the Absolutely Live Album. The Doors producer, Paul Rothchild, painstakingly edited the album from many different shows to create one cohesive concert, "the perfect Doors show". In fact many of the songs were pieced together from various performances. When it comes to identifying which song came from which show, it becomes very difficult. Rothchild has said "I couldn't get complete takes of a lot of songs, so sometimes I'd cut from Detroit to Philadelphia in midsong. There must be 2,000 edits on that album". Below is a listing of most likely venues of where a song was performed based on information from several books including Greg Shaw's The Doors On The Road.
