The Commodores - Caught In The Act album cover
Caught in the Act is an album by The Commodores, released in 1975.
After their hit first album Machine Gun, The Commodores came out with this one, "Caught in the Act", in 1975. Based on the tracks within this album, it could be considered as the "funkiest" of all albums by this band. This album was also where the hit "Slippery When Wet" was first released, a number that sounds like a "prototype" for Wild Cherry's hit "Play That Funky Music" (1976). With Lionel Richie's slick vocals, this number is a good example for inclusion in a funk musical collection. There are other notable tracks such as "Better Never Than Forever" and "Look What You've Done To Me". "I'm Ready" is a punchy instrumental dance number with clavinets that is in the same vein as their earlier hit "Machine Gun". The third track of this album ("The Bump") originally appeared as the fourth track in their preceding hit album, Machine Gun. Track listing: 1. "Wide Open" – 3:32 2. "Slippery When Wet" – 3:20 3. "The Bump" – 2:53 4. "I'm Ready" – 3:24 5. "This Is Your Life" – 5:53 6. "Let's Do It Right" – 3:45 7. "Better Never Than Forever" – 3:50 8. "Look What You've Done To Me" – 3:56 9. "You Don't Know That I Know" – 6:33 10. "Wide Open (Reprise)" – 1:00
