Back before there was Jay! | |
To a trained Zombie eye, one can easily indentify Rob's jean jacket (wanna' see my stinger?) as being on the album cover of the Caroline Records release of "Soul Crusher", later to be followed by "Make Them Die Slowly", before their breakout ablum "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1". This line-up shown here, gave it's listeners a very specialized taste of some crazy psychedelic spilled lyrics and otherwise thrashy instrumentation. While to new listeners, it is hard to swallow, or more-a-less appreciate, tracks like "Shack of Hate" make you want to lip-sync along with Mr. Straker and jump around like a madman in a straight jacket! Their guitarist here shown in the back (of his name I cannot remember off the top of my head) goes off to play a rather delightful array of again psychedelic tastes here, and seemingly says through his riffs,"hey, aren't I good? I deserve my own band someday!" Well, come hell or high water, it did in fact happen; and went pretty much into the grave with his 3some's (Angel Rot) first release of "Unlistenable Hymns of Induldgent Damnage", which I actually own, and bought brand new/just a while back! It is interesting, and a must-have for any over-the-top'er like myself, but that's about it. They could have had something if they had a decent set of vocal cords backing them- and not just his' own! That's what can happen when you are greedy! |
