 Riptide is one of Robert Palmer's more well-known albums, released in November 1985. The song "Addicted to Love" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1986, possibly as a result of the memorable music video; Palmer won a Grammy in 1987 for the song.

The album also featured Palmer's former Power Station bandmates Andy Taylor and Tony Thompson providing guitar and drum services, respectively. Power Station producer Bernie Edwards played bass and produced the album as well.
