Luny Tunes are a Dominican Republic reggaeton production duo composed of Francisco Saldana (Luny) (born June 23, 1979) and Victor Cabrera (Tunes) (born April 12, 1981) . Both members were born in Dominican Republic but grew up in the Boston metropolitan area until they moved to Puerto Rico where their success began with the help of DJ Nelson as their executive producer and promoter. They are often compared to the Neptunes because of their versatility with the music genre they produce and their ability to make #1 hits not only in reggaeton, but in other major charts. Before their commercial success as reggaeton producers, they worked at Harvard College's mess hall, Harvard University's Annenberg Hall; Luny working as a chef and Tunes as a dishwasher. After moving to Puerto Rico to produce music, they worked with Ivy Queen, one of the premiere female reggaeton artists, on her 2002 album Diva. They began producing for many reggaeton artists such as Hector y Tito, Zion y Lennox, Daddy Yankee, Lito y Polaco, Karel y Voltio, Khriz y Angel, and many others. Their instrumentals and musical styles were creating a new standard in reggaeton in general. After achieving success producing for various artists, they decided to make an attempt to achieve commercial success with their own album, Mas Flow. Mas Flow was promoted by DJ Nelson who helped produced the album. Many of reggaeton's biggest names at the time were featured in Mas Flow, such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel, Zion y Lennox, Hector y Tito, Tego Calderon, Khriz y Angel, Plan B, and others. The CD was a huge commercial success in Latin America and was one of the top Latin albums in the United States[citation needed]. They are also the owners of Mas Flow Inc. As of 2007, they have produced more than 500 songs. Many of today's hits in reggaeton were produced by Luny Tunes. Some examples are Tito El Bambino's "Caile", Daddy Yankee's"Gasolina", Wisin y Yandel's "Rakata", Zion's "Alocate", Don Omar's "Dale Don Dale", Tego Calderon's "Métele sazón", Julio Voltio's "El bumper" and many more. Luny Tunes are also known for bringing up new producers in the genre such as Nely, Tainy, Nesty, Naldo, Bones, Tilo, Nales, Doble A y Miki. Luny Tunes still reside in Puerto Rico where they own a studio estimated to be worth around 1.5 million dollars. Luny Tunes have worked in several remixes including: * Paris Hilton's "Stars Are Blind" Remix featuring Wisin y Yandel * R. Kelly's "Burn it up" featuring Wisin y Yandel * Ricky Martin's "Drop it on me" featuring Daddy Yankee. * Ricky Martin's "Qué más da" (Spanish version of "I don't care") featuring Fat Joe and Amerie. |
